02 March 2025, Doha – Qatar: Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), a leading onshore financial and business centre in the region, attracted more than 1,600 companies during its participation at the Web Summit Qatar 2025 by offering special incentives, including zero application fees, waived annual fees for the first four years and exclusive tax benefits. The companies comprised a wide spectrum of businesses in the technology, financial services, and professional services sectors.
Over the four-day event, QFC arranged productive discussions and meetings with various business entities and Summit participants and established new strategic partnerships with prominent organisations. QFC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with German Mittelstand to facilitate the entry of German SMEs into the Qatari market. Under the agreement, QFC will provide these enterprises with regulatory guidance and business development support. QFC’s MoU with Qatar National Bank, also signed during the event, aims to drive innovation in banking services and enhance financial solutions. This includes the development of fintechs and alternative funding sources and attracting venture capital to diversify financing options for local startups and fintech firms.
A press conference was also held announcing the launch of the QFC Metaverse, the latest digital frontier under the QFC Innovation Dome. The Metaverse aims to establish a borderless financial and fintech hub, offering a variety of functions tailored to different business needs, including promoting QFC and its clients, business networking and engagement, showcasing fintech and digital asset solutions, and promoting education and capacity building.
Commenting on QFC’s productive participation throughout the Summit, Yousuf Mohamed Al-Jaida, Chief Executive Officer, QFC, said: “Hosting one of the world’s largest technology events demonstrates Qatar’s commitment to strengthening its digital and tech ecosystem, which is crucial for developing a diversified, knowledge-based economy. As a key driver of Qatar’s business environment and economic diversification, QFC seized the opportunity at the Web Summit to encourage entrepreneurs and companies to establish their ventures in Qatar by offering exclusive facilities and benefits for those registering during the event. We were thrilled with the positive response to our offer, which underscores our dedication to attracting new investment, talent, and technology to Qatar."
